SCHEDULING.
The best time of day for an outdoor session is going to be the last hour or so of daylight. Do you have little ones that go to bed early? No problem. Regardless of your schedule and your family’s needs, we will make it work. Are you scheduling a newborn session? The best time for these is going to be mid-morning because we will be shooting in the comfort of your home.
BEFORE YOUR SESSION.
Once you pick a date for your photoshoot, you will have access to a lot of helpful information including help with what to wear, scenic location options, and more about what to expect during a session with Beth.
Since every family is unique and different, it is very important for me to get to know you and your family before our session. I am passionate about capturing you and your loved ones as your authentic selves, and there is no better way to do that than understanding the basics about what is important to you and your family prior to the session. What do you like to do for fun? Are there any details you want to disclose prior to your session? I will give you the opportunity to tell me everything you are comfortable with ahead of time so that when we meet for the first time, it feels like you are meeting an old friend who knows you already and can put you and your kiddos at ease right away. This helps the entire session flow easily and effortlessly.
DURING YOUR SESSION.
When we meet for the first time you can expect that we will spend the first few minutes just talking, playing, and getting comfortable. Every child is different, but my experiences with my three kids has given me lots of ideas of ways to break the ice with children off the bat, so I try to gain their trust with mom and dad by their side right away! Every session begins with movement, which allows for everyone to feel comfortable and results in natural-looking photos right away (win-win)! I strive for you to never have the awkward feeling of not knowing what to do, where to look, where to put your hands, or how to act. I want my clients to just enjoy their family time together and have fun while I direct you just enough to bring out everyone’s unique personality. You can expect us to be having fun and laughing pretty quickly!
We will keep your session fun and full of movement. This is especially important for little ones; we will keep them moving, playing games, and giving them “jobs” to help with in order to keep them engaged naturally. My style is to capture real emotion and connection, not to get that picture-perfect posed, everyone smiling at the camera shot. Don’t worry though, I will still take some. I will be gently guiding you to look at each other and to look at me throughout the session.
If your child is struggling to keep it together or your newborn is fussy, don’t worry! One of the biggest tips I can give parents is to remain calm. If you get anxious your kiddos will sense that. Again, I am the mother of three kids under age 6. I have been there. Also, feel free to bring some clean snacks and water. It’s amazing what food can do! We will hang out and let baby run the session and let the kids be kids. After all, we are together to tell your story.
AFTER YOUR SESSION.
Once the memories have been captured it is time to bring your story to life! If you choose to sign a model release, you can expect a sneak peek within a few days and the rest of your gallery will be ready within 2-3 weeks. Your gallery will consist of a minimum of 75 high-resolution digital images delivered in color and black and white, oftentimes more! These images will be available for instant digital download as well as the ability to share your gallery directly with friends and family. New this year! To show my appreciation for my clients, each client will receive a custom luxury photo album designed by me, which will be will be sent or hand delivered directly to your home after the session! I will even provide a code for an awesome discount on some other great print products to help bring your story to life!

As such, the work that I create is intended to be your art. The images you receive will be authentic and real moments, details, and interactions. Includes all digital files from the session in both color and black and white. Images delivered, displayed for viewing, and available for direct download in a private online gallery. Images from your maternity session will be included in your custom complimentary album. Leave the design to me. I will hand-craft a beautiful luxury album to tell your story for generations to come.

I want natural photos but I am awkward in front of the camera
I get it. There is a camera in front of your face and now all you can think of is how awkward you feel and that everyone is looking at you. I will gently guide you the entire time you are in front of the camera and reassure you to help you feel at ease. I help you interact with your loved ones throughout the shoot. Oftentimes you will forget there is a camera around because you are pre-occupied playing with your kids, spouse, or newborn baby. My sessions are full of life and movement, so even the most uncomfortable or “awkward” people will be looking and feeling natural before you know it. Trust me!
What is the first step when booking a photo shoot?
Fill out a short form over on the contact page and I will reach out in 24-48 hours! I'll send you some more information to check out and we can start chatting details if you feel I am a good fit for you!
What is the deposit for reserving a photoshoot date?
I require a 50% retainer when booking a session. The remaining balance is due the day of your shoot.
What does a session entail?
With few exceptions, sessions take place during “golden hour” (sunrise or sunset) to capture your family surrounded by beautiful light. If this doesn’t work with your family’s schedule, we can make arrangements that suit your needs! We will move around and explore a beautiful location together, or the comfort of your home, using different backgrounds throughout the session in order to give you a fun and versatile experience, and final gallery. Typical family sessions last about 45 minutes - 1 hour. Newborn sessions last about 1-2 hours.
What is the turnaround time for images after a photoshoot?
Final galleries for photoshoots are delivered within 2-3 weeks.
How are the final images delivered?
After all the final edits are done I will send you a direct link to your email of the full gallery. From there you can view the images, download them, share with family and friends, and even order prints directly from the gallery.
Do I receive all the images or do I need to choose?
My package is all-inclusive meaning you get everything! I don't believe in holding anything back. These images are all yours to keep and enjoy for generations to come.
When can I expect my custom-designed luxury photo album?
New in 2022: All my clients will receive a luxury photo album! Leave the design to me. This will be either sent via mail or hand delivered to your home ~6-8 weeks after your session.
Can I choose the images I want in my custom album?
Leave the design to me. I will deliver a custom album for you as a complimentary gift for you to keep for generations to come. I will choose the images and design, consider it an extra cherry on top. You won’t have any homework to do. Just sit back and wait for your beautiful gift to arrive! You will not be disappointed.
What if I need to reschedule my photoshoot?
For regular rescheduling there is a $50 fee. If the session needs to be rescheduled due to inclement weather, there is no fee. Refunds will be issued in the event of inclement weather where no alternate shoot date is possible.
What should I wear?
I usually recommend wearing something comfortable first and foremost for mom! Dress everyone else around you. If you feel comfortable wearing a dress, dresses photograph very well to help showcase movement in your photos. In your home for a newborn session? Leggings and a cute top are more than enough. Wear what you feel helps tell your story in the most authentic way. Here is a detailed blog post with helpful tips about what to wear for your specific session. Specific colors will be your personal preference, but shades of rust, reds, and teals are my personal favorite to photograph.
I want to book you for my photo shoot but I am not local, will you come to me?
I have specific shooting locations I use for all of my work. Lighting and location are crucial if you want your photos to be consistent with my brand and style. If you have your heart set on a location outside of my usual shooting locations, I am not opposed to coming to you, however, a travel fee would be applied along with the caveat that no photos or lighting are guaranteed in your final gallery.
